Debt Management and Consumer Counseling

It isn't very hard to get into financial difficulties. Getting out is a lot harder. It might be a bit painful, but it can be done. And once you have breathed out- of- debt air, you will never again want to find yourself in deep debt waters again.
Many people do not view credit cards as loans, but that is precisely what they are -- loans. When you hand a credit card to a cashier, you have in effect borrowed the money to pay for your purchase. The same is true when you enter when you enter your credit card information on websites to buy merchandise. It is true that ctredit cards are a convenience. They make buying things much easier and so much quicker, but they are loans.
When you engage the services of a consumer counseling service, you be asked to supply a list of your debts. You will find that some debts can be renegotiated, including mortgages. You will find out that your insecured debt (credit cards) can be renegotiated. But there is a catch there.
A credit card counselor is usually in a position to stop the interest and late charges from continuing to mount on your credit card bills. Interest rates can be decreased and late charges can be eliminated altogether. The catch is that the account will be closed....permanently. You cannot continue to use those credit cards, and you cannot apply for another credit card until your debts have been paid of in full.
Your total monthly obligations can be reduced by quite a bit and you will be able to live within the budget that will be created for you. It sounds really painful, doesn't it ? The truth! You are going to have to make some major adjustments, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Debt Management and Collecting Your Debts

Most of us who are very good at managing our own personal and business finances are very poor at collecting the monies that are owed to us. We really hate to find ourselves in the position of being a debt collector. Because we take our own financial obligations seriously, we tend to think that others do the same. They don't ... at least not all the time.
Everybody has at one time or another loaned friends 20 bucks and never seen a penny of it repaid yet, and most likely never will. We all know that. We knew when we made the loan that it was really a gift. Those kinds of things you simply chalk up to experience and move on. Other loans of substantial amounts that were made to family and friends should, however, have legal documents attached to them. Asking for collateral isn't unheard of, and neither is charging interest.
Advice given by very wise people of the past tells us to simply not lend money to family or friends, and it really is excellent advice. You aren't a bank or lending institution. You are simply very good at managing your own finances. If lending institutions won't lend your friends and relatives money, it is for a very good reason. The institutions have information that tells them that they aren't likely to get their money back. You won't have the information about how they handled debt in the past or how deeply in debt they are at the present. All you are going to know is what they choose to tell you.
The best answer when friends and relatives ask you to loan them a substantial amount of money is, "No." But if you do decide to make the loan anyway, at least make it legal and binding with contracts, collateral, and interests.

Acidity and Ulcer Home Remedies

Stress, tension, some medication, some infections, exceedingly spicy foods, and a host of other things can contribute to excessive acid in the stomach and even the development of stomach ulcers.
Excessive acidity and stomach ulcers were not invented in the twenty-first century. They have been around a very long time. Medical science has treated ulcers in a variety of ways over the years. The latest wrinkle on the medical scene regarding stomach ulcers is that they are really caused by a virus. That one is still being debated, but meanwhile people are suffering from the pain that excessive acidity and ulcers cause. The tried and true home remedies for stomach pain, acidity and ulcers include the use of bananas, Wood Apple, Lime, Cabbage, Drumstick, various vegetablw juices, and milk (cows' milk, goats' milk and almond milk).
Bananas and milk are the most popular home remedies used worldwide for the relief of stomach pain that is caused by the excessive acid or ulcers. Jokingly (I think), bananas have been said to contain vitamin U ..for ulcers. Bananas are basic in nature as opposed to acidic, oranges would be considered acidic. Bananas neutralize the hydrochloric acid that is naturally present in the stomach.
Cows' milk, goats' milk and almond milk are all basic-based foods. They are all soothing to the stomach and help to absorb and neutralize stomach acid. Stomach acid irritates the lining of the stomach. When there is less acid, there is of course less irritation.
Fortunately for those who suffer from excess stomach acidity and stomach ulcers, a diet of milk and bananas will supply almost all of the needed nutrients. Those who suffer from prolonged stomach pain and extreme stomach acidity should consult with their doctors. Ulcers can cause other even more serious problems.

Automatic Coffee Maker Buying Tips

Ah coffee! There really isn't a more pleasant smell in the universe than the smell of freshly brewed coffee especially the first thing in the morning. Almost everybody loves good coffee but the definitions of "good" coffee are as varied as the people who love it.
If you are considering buying a new coffee maker and you haven't bought one in a while, you are going to find a lot more choices that you ever dreamed were possible.
The first thing that you need to decide about your new automatic coffee maker is what kind of coffee maker you want. Do you want an automatic drip coffee maker or a percolater? (One drips water through coffee grounds, while the other forces heated water up a spout and over the coffee grounds.) Drip coffee and perked coffee are two entirely different tastes.
The next decision is what size automatic coffee maker will best serve your needs. If you are the only drinker in the household, then you need a very small coffee maker. One that makes a total of four cups will probably be adequate. However if there are several people who drink coffee, or if you entertain regularly and serve coffee, you may need a larger coffee maker.
The next decision you make are the features of a coffee maker that are important to you. You can find coffee makers that have more controls than NASA. You will need to determine which features are important, and which ones are not of any value to you. Remember that each added feature adds to the cost.
The price of coffer makers range between $20 to $200. It is important to buy one that is large enough, but it is just as important that you don't buy one that is larger than you need.

Basics of Aquarium Care

We advise that if the beginner uses cold water fish to start with, be aware that it is difficult to maintain them over a long period of time. They require the water temperatures that they have in the wild, and can only truly be enjoyed for a short time throughout the year. ( This doesn't apply if you are in a tropical country)
Setting up a warm water aquarium is a lot easier to maintain than a cold water aquarium because it is easier to heat an aquarium than to cool one ! This warm water (tropical) fish are the reason for the growing excitement of aquariums. They are beautiful, decorative fish, that are easier to raise, and can actually be bred in an aquarium. For a tropical fresh water aquarium, it is necessary to purchase fewer accessories than some believe, for instance aeration isn't always necessary, and in some instances it can even be harmful. In most cases it is simply for attraction that you will instal a pump for aeration. The most important accessories are the heater, to maintain the water temperature; and the light, which allows for the growth of aquatic plants. Plants cannot survive in an aquarium without lights. To start we need a few items:
* An aquarium
* Cover with light
* Heater
* Pump and filter (if you can afford it)
* Thermometer
* Fish (if you can keep the number of fish down, you can probably do without a pump and filter)
* Plants.
The basic care of aquarium involves:
*Regular feeding
* An occasional water change -- during this time the debris is siphoned off the bottom and front glass is cleaned.
* It may be necessary from time to time to thin out plants.
A smaller aquarium doesn't necessarily mean it is easier to keep clean. In fact, a smaller aquarium means the water goes bad much faster and requires more frequent cleaning. Your first aquarium should not be less than 10 gallons. Take care when choosing your first aquarium, and you will have many years of enjoyment watching your fish interact with their new home !

Fish for Your Aquarium

While it seems that there are an unlimited supply of fish species in any pet store, the fact is that the usual dealer's stock includes only about 100 species. While technique, water chemistry, and nutritional knowledge are important, the fish are the main reason to have an aquarium. So let's talk fish !
While many pet stores are willing to fill special orders for fish (as long as they are on the importer's lists) rare species of fish can be gotten in hobby magazines or in the publications of speciality fish breeders.
We should never accept fish that are ill or show obvious signs of damaged fins, etc. It is strongly advised that new fish should never be directly entered into a community tank, but put into quarantine for a week or so to be sure that they are not carrying a disease that could become an epidemic and destroy our established aquarium inhabitants. If they do become ill, it is easier to treat one fish than an entire community. Do not put the fish directly into the aquarium from the plastic bag they arrive in, but float the plastic bag in the aquarium until the water temperatures are equaled; this should take about 15 minutes. Even then, do not simply dump the new fish into the aquarium, but gtradually fill the plastic bag with the water from the aquarium so the fish become accustomed to the new water, then release them. Some fish will panic during this process and should be released as quickly as possible to avoid hurting themselves. Even though a new fish may be bigger, it is common to be harassed by the previous occupants. Given time they will find their social position in the tank. It requires a little time for them to become established and adapt to the new surroundings and water conditions.

Setting Up Your Aquarium

There are many ways to set up an aquarium as there are aquariums. This is meant to help out those who have no experience or very little experience setting one up. Here are some basic tips to help you get started:
* Test your aquarium for leaks. Even brand new aquariums may leak, and it is better to take the time and find out in advance if there is any problem.
* Choose the stand and location for your aquarium, making sure that the floor is level and sturdy enough to hold the filled tank. Remember that the water to fill a 50 gallon aquarium will weigh about 484 pounds.
* You will need a pad of styrofoam or felt to sit under the aquarium; it can be trimmed to the size of the tank. If you have a bottom heating mat, it will be placed on this pad.
* Collect the materials you will need for decoration. The rear wall should now be installed; if you are using an interior wall, make sure the fish can't get trapped behind it.
* Scrub everything; clean the aquarium completely. If there are algae or calcium rings on an old aquarium, use a razor blade. Calcium rings may also be removed with a rag soaked in vinegar.
* Place the large rocks to the sides or rear of the aquarium. Set them directly on the bottom so they can't be undermined by digging fish.
* Smaller pebbles are now added to create a look of variation in the substrate, which is now added.
* Instal the appliances, the heater, regulator, filter, and thermostat. Do not turn them on yet.
* Add 1/4 to 1/3 of the water, then allow the water to reach room temperature.
* Begin planting. Take your time, making sure you are happy with the planting pattern. A small hole should be pressed to the bottom for each plant, pressing the plant into the soil can damage the roots.
* Add the rest of the water, and allow the aquarium to establish itself; this includes allowing plants to develop new roots.
This may take up to 10 days with an additional 4 days before adding your fish, making adjustments to the thermostat as needed. When the aquarium is completed, leave it alone as much as possible; re-planting should be kept to a minimum.

The Equipment for Your Aquarium

The first decision you need to make when setting up your aquarium is the kind of fish you want to raise. Many things are dependant on this decision:
* How many hiding places do we need?
* Can we plant a jungle, or just a few garden spots?
* Will we be breeding fish ?
*Do we want to set up a decorative display just for viewing them?
* Are we going to study their behaviour?
*Do we want to photograph them ?
* What type of decorations do we want (divers, sunken treasure chests, rocks) ?
Since the fish don't care one way or the other, these are the decisions we will make for them, kind of fun, isn't it? It isn't a good idea to put clam shells or other items from the ocean in a fresh water tank, even though many do just that. It tends to harden the water, which isn't conducive to the health of tropical fish.( Most tropical fish come from soft water areas.) There are many considerations that are important to fish:
*Do they need to be able to hide in caves?
*Do they need to find shelter from above with roots or plants?
*Some fish need a jungle to hide in, and it is important that they be able to hide from the other inhabitants of the aquarium.
*Some fish need lots of room to swim. You can get further information on the needs of different fish by reading up on them -- get a good book on setting up aquariums. (see:>>
http://universalwebserver.com/tiatan787/ (at Amazon Book store) These books can help you decide how many and what type of fish to choose for the size aquarium you have. If you ever have the opportunity to view fish and plants in their natural habitat, you will see that water isn't always crystal clear, plants don't always grow from the bottom, and most habitats are completely plant free!

Your First Aquarium

A smaller aquarium doesn't necessarily mean an easier aquarium to maintain. On the contrary, the water in a smaller aquarium needs cleaning more frequently. You should never purchase an aquarium smaller than 10 gallons for your first aquarium. This excludes fish bowls and single fish tanks; they are great starters for children.
While the fish and plants are part of an ecologically balanced world, the rules of nature do not apply to aquariums. Plants not only require light to exists - they also require animal excretions (fish droppings) and carbon dioxide. In return they provide the fish with oxygen and food. In nature these things naturally maintain a balance , and in an aquarium you must maintain this balance. You can't just put an aquarium together and forget to clean it occassionally. What you will end up with is a green slimy mess that you can't see into and that your fish and plants can't survive in. Cleaning is usually performed by a simply "partial water change." At this time you also siphon the debris off the bottom of the tank, and clean the front glass.
It is necessary in most instances to hold back on cleaning, in order to avoid too much of a good thing! If you can avoid the temptation to purchase too many fish for your aquarium, you will in all likelihood be able to avoid the purchase of a pump and filter. Even though if you can afford one, you should definitely purchase them.
Plants that are healthy will occasionally need to be thinned, and if you are unfortunate enough to purchase plants with even one snail, you will have to thin them constantly. Snails are excellent at cleaning your glass, but are very hard to get rid of, and will multiply at an astonishing rate! Try to avoid them and get an algae eater or cat-fish to keep your glass clean, they suck the algae off the glass. You will find that having a clean aquarium is a pleasure, and a very relaxing addition to your home.

Introduction to Aquariums

For the next 5 days I will be telling you about an interesting hobby and how to start , maintain and other aspects of keeping this hobby which is good for the young and old.
Most people fail to resist the beauty of a fully functional aquarium. However, many after a very short time relegate this wonder world of peace and color to the attic, spare room, or even the first garage sale they have. Many don't believe they can properly care for an aquarium, therefore they don't even try! With all the gadgets on the market to-day, they may mistakenly believe that creating an aquarium takes no work from them. Even though the gadgets make it easier, there is still work that we must do to maintain this elegant world in glass. Maintaining an aquarium doesn't require any special studies regarding chemicals, water or biology. It does require the basics, which can be learned from a book (many of these are available in pet stores); these books are very easy to ready and follow.
You may also get the books from Amazon Book Store at: http://universalwebserver.com/tiatan787/
Setting up an aquarium is a lot like building a home; it is just built out of glass, water, gravel, and fish. So prepare like you are doing just that, building a home for your fish. Make a few decisions right off the bat, the biggest one being if you want a salt water or fresh water tank. My suggestion is a fresh water tank if you never had an aquarium before. It will give you an idea of what is involved in maintaining an aquarium. Sometimes simple is better when you get started, especially if this is for a child. Get them a small tank with a couple of goldfish; this will let you know how interested they really are. My first experience with fish was a goldfish bowl, and it has progressed from there. If you want a little more color for the first tank, get a male beta, also called siamese fighting fish. Just remember that male betas will kill each other, so only put one adult in a tank. Your pet store attendant can give you information on what kindof fish can be put together, without having any casualties. Using their knowledge, along with a good book on aquariums, can start you on the right path to a relaxing, beautiful world in glass.

Recycling

Nowadays we hear the word "RECYCLING" very often. What exactly does that mean to you ? Most likely you will think of saving money by re-using the things you bought. This is true we can save money by re-using things but this is only one aspect of it. The more important aspect concerns the whole world. For example, we buy paper, ie newspaper, writing paper or anything that is made of paper. After using it we throw it away. Do you realize that paper is made from wood which is from trees. As we use and throw away the paper after use the manufacturers will have to chop down more trees. And with the people of the whole world using paper just imagine how may trees have to be chopped down. Because of so many trees being chopped down the climate of the world changes - and global warming results. As the countries in the world get warmer the ice in the North and South Poles starts to melt down and the ice which has melted turned into water. The water level of the seas get higher resulting in some countries sinking slowly. What will happen in the years to come. Our scientist are predicting this and are encouraging recycling of paper especially. For the ordinary citizen of the world we can do our small but very important part by recycling the paper we use. Of course we cannot do it at home. For convenience we throw away our paper products in separate bins so that the cleaners can sell it to old paper collectors who in turn sell it to the manufacturers. They have the technology and equipment to re-use the paper to make into cheaper quality paper or other paper products. Other products can also be recycled into new products. China is currently turning all the rubbish thrown away from homes into something useful. In other countries bricks for bulding homes are made from unwanted products. Lovely ladies' handbags and shopping bags are also being made from unwanted products. Look around your house and you may find new uses for some of the things you are about to throw away. This is another way to save money as well.

Five Secrets of Debt Management

There is an old saying: " When you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging."When you are taking control of your finances, that old sayingapplies. The sooner that you get control, the financial hole that you have to climb out of won't be as deep. When you get that first double electric bill, or when you find yourself using your credit card to pay the necessities, you are in trouble. Stop digging. Take control now.
1. Stop using your credit cards. Cut them into pieces and cancel the accounts. If you don't, the hole will only get deeper.
2. Sit down with a pencil and paper and figure out how much you have coming in versus how much you have going out. If income is more than out-go you have a chance to get things right yourself. If income is less than out-go, you need to seek help from a qualified financial planner or debt consultant ... now.
3. Cut your monthly expenses for the necessities. Eat in rather than out. Turn off lights when you leave a room. Raise or lower the thermostat so that less energy is used for heating and cooling.
4. Start saving money. All this requires a trip to the payroll department where you work. Even if you start by taking a few dollars out of each paycheck and saved for you, it will be a beginning that you can build on. Think of saving as paying yourself first.
5. Avoid all impulse buying. When you go to the grocery store, take out a list, and stick to what is on the list. Don't look left or right at the checkout stand. Use cash to pay for groceries rather than a check.

Computers help students.... is that true?

Computers are getting cheaper nowadays and schools in my country are encouraging parents to provide computers for their children. Is this statement true ? Generally, it is but parents must guide the students to ensure that the usage is not abused. In the first place the parents themselves should understand the power of the computer. I am not talking about the electric power but the influence that the computer can do to the students. When we use the computer we can access the whole wide world. The user is exposed to whatever good or evil that can be found in the world. The most common problem that the computer is exposed to is "sex" and pornographic sites. Responsible parents know that they have to block these sites so as to prevent their children from logging on to these sites. The younger kids are not matured enough to understand that pornographic site can mislead their future lives. So it is very important that parents ensure the safe usage of their children's computers and keep an eye on their usage every now and then.Kids are intelligent and computer savvy. Most parents are educated and are probably using computers in their work place so there is no problem there. But the problem is when the mother is not well educated nor computer savvy or when the mother or in many cases both the parents are very busy working in their effort to find more money. The kids would then be left on their own to do what they like with the computers. Most kids will go for computer games and spend the whole day and night playing games. If they have naughty friends they may be influenced by them and probably log on to porn sites. This is bad for the teenagers who may end up producing unwanted babies. In conclusion I would say that computers are very useful and can help students provided they are guided and regularly supervised by their parents or guardians.

Scammers Never Give Up.

To-day I received another 2 emails from Nigerian scammers. The first one informed me that they have been investigating me to find out why I have not been receiving a sum of money due to me. Then they told me that it was because I have not provided my personal information to them. Following that I was informed that I could get my money if I simply email my address, credit card details, etc. Of course, I simply delete the email. Readers beware of these scammers as they come back to you with different techniques to attract your attention hoping that you would slip up and provide the follow up scam. I have talked about their scams before but I am bringing this up again to inform you of how daring they are using big names to attract you. My 2nd email is quite interesting. They informed me that the UN has made investigation and found that I lost some money to scammers. To compensate me they would pay me a certain some of money but they would need my personal details (ie the usual details). And this email was sent by Mr Kofi Anan, the past Secretary General. They have the audacity to use Mr KofiAnan's name.
Previously they have used Yahoo's website (phishing) and made it very real so that a layman surfer believe them. I wonder why the relevant authorities do not seem to be going after them.

Realize How Lucky we Are

These couple of weeks when you read the newspapers or watch the world news on television you hear mostly sad news of disasters arounf the world - Cyclone in Myanmar, earthquake in China, bombs exploding in India and hurricane in U.S. It makes me feel very sad. It looks like the world is going to end. This year seems to be a very bad year. It is a pitiful sight seeing young innocent school children being pulled out of the collapsed school buildings in the epicentre of the quakes in Sichuan, China. For people living outside these quake prone regions let us thank God that we are spared from these disasters. For the people who live in these regions they do not have much choice as they were born and brought up there and there is nothing they can do except the rich folks who can choose to work in safer places. Human life is very fragile. One never knows when a disasterous may hit him/her. As you walk on the streets something may drop from the sky (either thrown out of the window of an apartment; or branch may have broken off from a tree; or a part of a building may be broken off; or an invisible virus or bacteria may enter your body). These happenings may kill you instantly or slowly after prolonged illness. I should not be writing about such sorrowful events which most people already know it but I hope that I am able to alert someone who has not realized how lucky they are and hopefully they will try to do something to help the victims. I would like to help but I am too old for it and also not rich enough to spare the dollars. The only way I can help is to write about it and hope that a guy will suddenly realize that they should do something to help our fellow citizens in distress. Mothers' Day

To-day is Mother's Day. Although my mother is not around anymore I remember her as the most wonderful person in the world. Children who can afford usually bring their mothers to a local restaurant for a special meal and give her expensive presents. Children who cannot afford should not feel bad. The important thing is that they should acknowledge and appreciate their mothers' love and care for them in bringing them up and in times when they need their mothers' support. If possible they should at least try to help their mothers on this special day in the household chores and let their mothers take a rest. In my opinion this gesture is far better and more meaning ful than all the expensive presents and bouquets of flowers. Some mothers will do the most difficult chores and endure the worst sufferings just to bring up their children and give them the best things to make them happy. And yet some of these pampered children when they grew up treat their mothers very badly; some even to the extent of throwing their mothers out of the house. These are very sad cases but it happens. This is the kind of materialistic world we live in. Thank God there are only a few cases. It is therefore very important that we should teach our child right from a young age to respect their parents and elders and not to pamper them. Love them for all you can but not to give in to all that they demand. Children are very smart and observant they note your weakness when you pamper them and take advantage of it. When they are older and independent they will try to run away from home and if you show that you missed them very much they will take advantage and you have lost control of them. The only solution then is to take a hard stand and show them who is the boss.

Now let us surf the net and learn more ourselves about how we should bring up our children: >>

Yesterday I was talking about a country hit by cyclone Nargis and that the authorities are delaying approval of visas of volunteer workers. The latest news is that they accept the aid ie the food, medical supplies and other necessities for the cyclone victims but they do not allow the aid workers to enter the country. They said that they will distribute the aid to the people. This news is appalling and makes most people wonder what the authorities are thinking of. The first thing most people think of is that the aid that goes in may not reach the people who really need it or the people will get them very late knowing the way the authorities are working. This discourages people from donating to this worthy cause. People are sacrificing their hard earned money to donate to such worthy causes and to think that the donation may end up not to the very people who need it most but possibly to make the authorities richer. There is every possibility that this will happen as they are already known to have the disrespectful act of locking up and beating up their holycitizens the monks who opposed their decisions. What kind of people are they who have the audacity to punish their monks. They are no better than animals and do not deserve the luxurious life that they are enjoying at the expense of their poor citizens.

Iwonder what is happening in the world to-day. We have been getting news of disasters one after another. So many people seems to have gone mad killing each other. And now nature is also getting very angry. The recent cyclone Nagris is the worst that I have heard. It has killed about 100,000 people and destroyed almost a whole city's homes. I wonder why the poor seems to get poorer. And the poor citizens suffered even more because the authorities don't trust the people who have come help them. Why are they delaying giving permission for humanitarian aid workers to come in and help their citizens. Don't they have any conscience at all . Their people are dying of hunger and thirst and yet they can take their time to issue the visas. Obviously they must be screening the applicants for visas thoroughly and carefully. They probably fear that the aid workers could be foreig n supporters of their opposition rivals coming in disguise as helpers. They should have let the aid workers come in quickly to help their people as the number of helpers are not so large that they will find difficulty in controlling them. They should welcome these aid workers for volunteering to come in and help their people. They are not going into the country for a holiday but to help and in the process suffering themselves. I guess that their highest priority is to protect their power and wealth. To them it doesn't matter if others die as long they can keep their power and wealth. Do they realise that if the other communities of the world ostracised them and if most of their citizens die in the disaster who is left to work for them to make them rich and powerful. I hope that one day they will realise that they have been selfish, lacking in conscience and are not caring for their citizens as the authorities in charge. I have a feeling that this disastrous cyclone is God's way of punishing them. Lord Bhudda, please help the citizens!

Do you realize that your mind is a very powerful organ ? It is therefore important to think positively. If you think you can achieve something that you have always wanted you will achieve it. If you think that cannot do it then you will never do it. So if you have an ambition to do something and you reinforce the wish every day chances are you you will achieve your ambition. Think positively and do not allow yourself to let inferiority complex set in your mindset. Tell yourself every morning when you wake up that you can do it. It may take time but you will get it. This is what is called a self-fulfilling prophesy. Many people have no confidence in what they do and even before they start on the job they "predicted" that they will fail. This concept goes for anything that you set out to do whether you are wooing a lady you are attracted to or trying to make a sale or pursuing a degree course. One important thing is to develop confidence in yourself. Everyone has a strong point which is unique to him/her. Do not try to do the same thing that he other person is doing because your strong point is not the same as his. Discover yourself and find out what you are really good at. Is it art? Can you speak persuasively ? Do you have a good memory ? Can you write well ? Such questions will help you discover your natural ability. When you have decided what to do stick to it - never give up half way through.

Resistance to Change

It is natural for people to resist change especially if the idea or mindset has been them for a long time. This is not good for them because we are living in world that is moving forward with the times. Technology is changing and improving every day. I have mentioned this in my earlier posting that if we do not catch up with the changes that are going on we are actually going backwards. If you are riding in a bus or train and you watch the other bus or train passing by notice that if the vehicle you are in does not move forward at the same speed you will see your vehicle moving backwards (it seems). Very soon you will find yourself left far behind. In some cases you have to change or else you cannot proceed. Take eg the use of computer storage device - the floppy disk either the 3.5 " or 5". You cannot use them any more because they are obsolete. Your new computer does not cater for these devices any more. People who still stick to the old ways will also find themselves obsolete. People should look around and see what is going on and not insist on resisting change. Change is most cases for the better whether in technology or in jobs or preferences. Think about it. Do you want to still live in the past or move forward with the times and enjoy the new ways of living. I noticed that many people have changed. In the past may people keep their money and dared not spend it. Nowadays I see many of them spending considerably large sums of money on travelling to see the world. They do not want to be a frog in the well as the saying goes.

Bringing Up Children Also Father's Duty

Around this time of the year children in many families appreciate what their mothers had done in bringing them up and giving them guidance in their younger days. This celebration of mothers' day is catching up in Asian countries. The children who can afford would buy gifts or flowers for their mothers with cards that contain sweet words appreciating their mothers love and care for them. This makes the mothers very happy; knowing that their hard work has been acknowledged . Until recently fathers' day has not been celebrated. I believe this is due the commercial sector not promoting it and not because the children think that fathers' efforts in bringing them up. Usually mothers spend more time with the kids as in most cases the fathers are the breadwinners while the mothers care for the kids. I believe that bringing up children is a responsibility that should be shared between the mother and the father. The fathers should try to find time to care for their children. Responsible fathers would try to find time to spend some quality time with their children. I appreciate the efforts of such fathers. Do they expect their children to be filial to them if they hardly follow up on what their children are up to. In the worst case scenario fathers are interested only in their own interests and pleasures giving excuses that they work very hard and deserve their favourite pleasures. In Japan fathers were encouraged to attend courses teaching them how to be better fathers. I hope other countries will also introduce this training so that future young children will grow up to be better citizens. For everyone do not stop learning as learning is an on-going activity and you can find out how to continue learning >>>.......

Cheap Labour & Rogue Agents

When I read the local newspapers this morning I was shocked by the news that in a nearby large prosperous country some unscrupulous bosses have been taking advantage of the poor farmers. They operate their manufacturing business in the remote country side and used the farmers' children as cheap labourers paying them less than one US dollar a day working very long hours. It is a pitiful situation. My grandchildren are indeed very lucky that they were not born to the family of these farmers. Why are there such people in this world with all the modernisation and technical advances in the country? They do not have any conscience at all. They are in my personal opinion no better than the wild animals. Even some animals (eg dogs) have the capacity to "love" their masters who feed them and take care of them. The wicked bosses have forgotten or do not realize that one day they may need the support of their fellow citizens. The authorities have found out about their evil activities in exploiting their less fortunate fellowmen. I hope that they will be severely punished. Can the bosses enjoy the fruits of their business with the toil and sweat of young children (boys and girls) ? This amounts to slavery. In third world countries this is understandable as the country may be very poor. I hope the administrators of this country will be more vigilant and make an effort to hunt out the 'beast' bosses. In another case job agents recruit workers from their own country promising to get jobs for them for a fee. The fee is collected in advance. They bring them to a country where jobs are available but they do not ensure by helping them apply for the jobs. They just dump them in the foreign country and pass them on to the agent in that country. The local agent again ask for a fee and disappeared after taking the money. This another case of exploitation of their country men. The poor man is stranded in a foreign country with no job and ended up working illegally. In the end he gets punished by the local authorities for working illegally. Fortunately some kind souls helped him and donated some money for him to return home to his country but he is now left with no job. I thank god that I am lucky enough not to be in such a situation.

Expectations

In life some people are born lucky and some are not. I believe that something up there seems to be controlling our lives and how we live. Fortune tellers or clairvoyants attribute this to the influence of the stars (or rather the planets) which have influence on the day we are born). Can we control our own fate ie how we should live and how we can make a lot of money ? The ones who are born lucky succeed in life and they may think that they are smart and more intelligent than others. The unlucky ones may feel that they are stupid and inferior. Personally I feel that whether you are intelligent or stupid your success in life depends on your "luck" or some call it fate. Some may attribute back luck to the character of the person - he may be classified as lazy. Personally I have seen lazy people succeed in life. They get what they want - money, easy life and enjoy all the pleasures of life. And I have seen intelligent hard working people struggling to survive and yet do not seem to find success. At time I used to get this experience. Thinking that I should save money and hopefully to have a better life. As fate decided some problem popped out unexpectedly and I had to spend all the money I saved. Someone said to me "money" has six legs and humans have two legs. If you try to chase money it will be very difficult to catch it but if money wants to come to you it will catch you very fast. That is when you get lucky. We have seen people "catch" money very fast and they get rich very quickly but within a short period later all the disappeared even faster. I am not suggesting that we should just sit down and do nothing and expect money to drop on your laps. What I suggest is that we try our best to work hard to find money ( I mean honestly) and not to expect too much. When your luck comes to you money will drop on your laps. The best philosophy is "Dont worry! Be happy ! Enjoy while you can.
