There are never any side effects associated with the use of any home remedy that I have ever read about, heard about, or used. On the other hand, every single prescription drug that I have ever read about, heard about, or used comes with a long list of possible side effects.
And some of the possible side effects listed for prescription drugs sound worse than the problems they are supposed to be making better.
Home remedies cannot handle emergency situations, and neither can they be substituted for some medical needs. But they can be used rather than prescription drugs for many common human maladies and minor injuries. Long before there were 10 medical doctors and a drug store on every corner, people used home remedies to heal themselves and their families. These home remedies were effective for people then, and they are still effective for people now.
People just don't usually turn to the use of home remedies. They run to their doctors, get a prescription, and run to the drug store when what they needed to make themselves feel better was most likely sitting on their pantry shelf.
Some people will look at home remedies and see what they consider inferior information and inferior medical care that was put together by uneducated backwoods hillbillies.
Others will look at home remedies and see a treasure trove of information that has served human kind for untold generations -- information that was obtained through necessity and experience.
The people who view home remedies as inferior information and inferior medical treatment need to remember that most of the prescriptions that those medical doctors write are for synthetic versions of old home remedies -- the old home remedies that don't have side effects. Home remedies are a treasure trove of information. When this information is understood and put into use, it can provide safe, effective treatment that will have no side effects and be almost completely free.

Home Remedy - Athlete's Foot
You don't have to be an athlete to get athlete's foot. People who wear shoes that don't allow air to circulate, who insists on wearing socks that are not 100 % cotton, or who do not dry between their toes after every shower will probably at some point get a good case of athlete's foot.
Athlete's foot is one of those maladies that have been around a very long time, so you can bet that there are home remedies that will treat and cure it.
One of the very cheapest and most effective ways to treat as well as prevent athlete's foot is to rub baking soda between the toes after thoroughly drying them after each shower, and sprinkle some baking soda into the socks before they are put on.
There are, of course, a lot more very effective home remedies for treating athlete's foot.
Tea tree oil is one of the better known and widely accepted home remedy treatments for athlete's foot. Tea tree oil can be purchased at most stores that sell herbs and herbal supplements. Just dab a drop on the affected areas several times a day. If it burns, you can dilute it with a little vegetable oil.
Applying vinegar has been proven to help cure athlete's foot as well. Use a cotton ball soaked in white vinegar
(the kind that you find on a grocery store shelf) and rub the affected areas with the cotton ball.
Boil white willow bark, strain, and soak the feet in the cooled solution to help cure athlete's foot. Dissolving a few aspirin tablets in hot water and soak the feet works almost as well. You can also buy over- the- counter medications at most drug stores for treating athlete's at home. Read the labels and follow the directions when using these products.

Exotic Coffee Drinks
Every morning sunrise in America means that coffee is being brewed in almost every kitchen across this great country. Coffee is the traditional morning drinking for the great majority of American citizens. The coffee that is brewed each morning is just coffee. There isn't anything exotic about it.
The coffee is usually made from coffee that has been purchased at the local supermarket. It is most often made in automatic drip coffee makers, but there are still a few of us who use percolaters. We don't want anybody to do anything exotic to that first cup of morning coffee, but as the day progresses, we get more adventuresome and we like to try "stuff " that will make coffee more interesting.
Syrups are available in some really exotic flavours that can be added to a plain cup of coffee to give some added body, zest, and interest. You can purchase syrups in such exotic flavours as pumpkin pie, lavender, Granny Smith apple, and a whole host of other flavours, some of which are exotic and some are not. You can get vanilla and chocolate, too.
The makers of powdered coffee creamers are jumping onto the exotic coffee drinking band wagon as well. You can now purchase flavoured powdered coffee creamers in a variety of flavours that will add zest and imagination to that plain cup of coffee.
Even the instant coffee want to get in on the act. You can purchase instant coffee in a variety of very exotic flavours, and these instant coffees can be found on the shelves of most grocery stores, so you don't have to visit a specialty coffee shop to find them.
It isn't wise to fool around with that first cup of morning coffee, but after that, all bets are off. You can make a plain cup of coffee as exotic as your taste buds will allow.
In the past few days I have been telling you about a few types of coffee but there are many more types available. Why not log on to these sites to learn more: >>> http://homeincomeportal.com/tiatan787/

Jamaican Coffee
When you think of Jamaica, music and dance probably come to mind. Reggae is the most well known of music
styles, and Bob Marleywas probably the best- known reggae musician until his death in 1981. You probably think of the famous dances of Jamaica, too. The "jonkonnu," "bruckins," and "ska" are all dances that you are very likely to think about when you think of Jamaica.
Maybe you should also think about coffee. Yes, coffee!
On the eastern end of the island of Jamaica there is a range of hills that are called the Blue Mountains. (They really don't qualify as mountains, but that is the name that is used.) The Blue Mountains are about 5,500 feet above sea level. There are thick woods, and the land is forest preserve. Just below the hilltops, there is land that is absolutely, perfectly suited for growing the world's most delicious coffee. There is a perfect rainfall pattern and a prevailing mist that supplies constant moisture to the delicate coffee bean plants.
Jamaican Blue coffee is not going to be found on the shelves of your local grocery store of chain discount store. You can find Jamaican Blue coffee or roasted Jamaican Blue coffee beans in specialized coffee shops, or you can order them over the internet. But you had best be prepared for a little sticker shock. Jamaican blue coffee isn't cheap, but then then IT is one of the world's best tasting coffee, so you have to expect to pay a premium price for it.
Jamaican blue coffee is going to cost you nearly $30 for one pound of ground coffee. Yes, thirty dollars for ONE pound. You can buy one pound of roasted whole beans for about the same price.

Italian Coffee
In Italy there are just about as many kinds of coffee as there are kinds of pasta. Maybe there should be a required course about Italian coffee before a passport is accepted. There are many coffees as well as many coffee traditions in Italy, and unless you want to be labeled a maleducato ( a rude or ill-mannered person), you need to know that it is ESPRESSO and not EXPRESSO (an expresso is a fast train).
If you want to have a little fun, you can ask a group of Italians how to make a perfect cup of stovetop espresso. Then you can just sit back and watch the fur fly, so to speak. Every one in the group will have their own individual method for making that perfect cup of stovetop espresso.
There are so many types of espresso machines that it is diffult to keep track. There are automatic espresso makers, pump-driven espresso machines, lever piston espresso machines, and, of course the classic aluminum espresso coffee maker (a moka pot or The Moka Express). That was invented back in 1930s.
But we have only begun to scratch the surface of Italian coffee here. The choices of the kind of coffee to order at what time of day and under what circumstances can be more confusing than a Starbucks menu. Usually coffee is only served with breakfast. At other meals, coffee is ordered after the meal is over and you should never order an espresso after a meal. It is correct to simply order "a coffee, please." If you are brushing up on your Italian that would be, "un caffe, per favore."
Coffee and all the traditions associated with the drinking of coffee are an important part of Italy. You need to know before you go.

Starbucks Coffee
You probably never heard of Starbucks before the 1990's, but the company has actually been around longer than that. Starbucks open their first store way back in 1971 in Seattle. The name is nautical in nature. It was taken from Herman Melville's novel Moby Dick. Moby Dick is a classic about the whaling industry in the 19th century. It is a rather appropriate name, since the coffee that Starbucks served were imported from around the world.
Then in 1982, Howard Schultz joined the Starbucks organization and while he was on a trip to Italy, he discovered the popularity of the espresso bars and decided that the idea had potential for the Starbucks Company. The rest, as they say, is history.
During the 1990's, Starbucks spread out across the United States as well as into the rest of the coffee-drinking world and soon became a pub licly traded company. Today there are more than 6,000 Starbucks stores in more than 30 countries around the world, and they haven't stopped expanding.
Starbucks now offers their ground coffee beans by mail order and it probably won't be long before you will be able to purchase t-shirts and mugs with the Starbucks logo by mail as well. These items are not yet available by mail order, but they likely will be in the near future.
You won't have to look far to find a Starbucks store. They seem to keep popping up everywhere. There is a good reason or several good reasons. First, the Starbucks organisation insists that diversity really is the spice of life. The organisation also insists that the very highest of standards be applied to purchasing, roasting, and the delivery of every single cup of coffee that is sold. It is a philosphy that works!

Just Coffee, Please
People in groups of two, three, or more stroll into coffe shops all across America and utter the phrase, "Just coffee, please" as they take their seats, open their newspapers, or converse with one another. The message that they are conveying is that they don't need a menu, and that they won't be ordering food of any kind. They simply want a cup of coffee.
These folks expect that they will be served a good cup of coffee, and that makes the coffee bean growers, those who harvest the coffee beans, those who transport the coffee beans, those who roast the coffee beans, and those who grind the coffee beans and package the coffee all smile with satisfaction at a job well done, and proves yet again that they all have job security. People drink coffee and they will keep right on drinking coffee.
The process of producing good coffee beans to getting those coffee beans made into coffee and into the cup of a coffee drinker is a long and arduous task that involves a great many people. Coffee is big business ...very big business.
Coffee trees thrive only in sheltered, mountainuous, subtropical climates. Coffee trees are temperamental -- they must be shaded by larger trees to protect them, and their tender fruit and coffee beans must be harvested by hand. Harvesting coffee beans is a back-breaking job that can only be done by people who can tell a ripe coffee bean from an unripe coffee bean. Ripe coffee beans must be picked , and green coffee beans must be left undisturbed so that they continue the ripening process and can be picked later.
Coffee beans must be carefully handled during transportation to avoid bruising the beans. Roasting must be done under very controlled conditions and grinding under conditions that are equally well controlled.
Think about that the next time you say, "Just coffee, please."

How to Make Good Coffee
The definition of a "good" cup of coffee is relative. It all depends upon the taste buds of the person determining whether the cup of coffee is good or bad. Haven't you ever wondered why there are so many different brands of coffee ? Yep ... just like horse racing, it's the difference of opinion that makes the coffee industry tick, keeps the competitive spirit alive, and the price down so most of us poor schmos can afford to buy coffee by the 13-ounce "pound" at our local supermarkets.
No matter what "brand" or "grind"of coffee makes the best cup of coffee in your opinion (and your opin ion is the only one that counts), or whether you prefer drip coffee or perked coffee, there are a few simple things that will make your cup of coffee just tastes better. The number one "secret" of all good coffee is to begin the brewing process with a clean coffee maker. It doesn't matter whether the coffee maker is automatic drip coffee maker, a percolater, a fancy expresso machine, or a plain pot that will be heated over a camp fire to make river coffee. The cleanliness of the coffee maker has a great deal to do with the quality of the coffee that is made. Coffee makers can be cleaned with baking soda, cream of tarter, or any of the commercially sold coffee maker cleaners that are available on the market today. The second factor for making good cup of coffee is the water that is used at the beginning of the coffee brewing process. Most of all the water that is delivered through a tap has been treated with several chemicals. These chemicals affect the taste of brewed coffee. Use boiled water to make your next pot of coffee. You will be amazed at the improved taste.
The third factor for making a good cup of coffee is the ratio of coffee grounds to water. Remember that the more grounds you use per cup of water, the stronger the coffee will be. Strength of coffee is a personal choice, so a little experimentation might be in order.

Perfect Coffee
There was a fellow I talked to not long ago that I hadn't seen in a good many years. The first thing that he said to me was , "I remember a cup of coffee that I had at your house about twenty years ago. It was the best cup of coffee that I ever had in my life!" Of all the things that he could have said, that would have been my last guess. But, that is exactly what he said.
There are a few basics that go into making a perfect cup of coffee. First your coffee maker must be kept clean. Making coffee time after time without cleaning the coffee maker will make the coffee bitter. All coffee makers must be cleaned regularly -- both drip makers and percolaters.
There are two ways of cleaning coffee makers. The first way is that after every pot of coffee, the coffee maker needs to be rinsed with a little baking soda and water. Then it needs to be rinsed several more times to be sure that the soda residue is completely rinsed away. Occasionally, a coffee maker needs to be cleaned with cream of tarter. If you have a percolator, put a teaspoon of cream of tarter into the basket with a filter, plug it in and let it go through the whole coffee-making cycle. If you have an automatic drip pot, put a teaspoon of cream of tarter into the coffee basket with a filter, as well as a teaspoon of cream of tarter into the pot, and let it run through the entire coffee-making cycle.
Another secret to a perfect cup of coffee is that the water that you use should be the bottled variety, unless you are blessed with really good tap water. The chlorine and other chemicals in tap water do affect the taste of coffee.

Buying Gourmet Coffee
How many different kinds of coffee do you suppose are available around the world today ? I don't know, either, but there isn't much doubt that hundreds of thousands would be a guess that was not far off the mark.
Just go look on the shelves of your local supermarket. My goodness! There are dozens of brands and several choices of roasts for each brand. There are coffees that are made specially for drip coffee makers. There are coffees that are prepackaged and ready to be put into coffee makers. There are single servings. It's mind- boggling, and you haven't even scratched the surface yet -- the coffees on the shelves of your local supermarket aren't even the gourmet coffees.
To find the gourmet coffee, you will need to visit the coffee specialty shop or go surfacing on the web. Now the choices are REALLY mind boggling. Unless you already know which gourmet coffee you are looking for, you will need to have some good information before you buy. It might even be a good idea to buy a "variety " package that includes several gourmet coffees and give yourself the opportunity to try before you buy.
Some gourmet coffees have very high acidity. Is that a good thing or bad thing ? Only your taste buds can decide. Some people prefer high acidity coffee, while others do not. Is the acidity a good thing or a bad thing ? Well, some say that acidity causes stomach problem, and others say that the acidity is what makes the coffee a cancer fighter of the first order and what gives it the unique taste.
Some gourmet coffees, particularly those from the islands, have an earthy taste that isn't present in coffees from other regions. Some coffees, particularly those from Jamaica, are so smooth they make you want to cry.
It all depends on your own individual likes and dislikes.

All About Coffee
Coffee is a beverage in every country. Granted, the coffees of different countries vary in taste (and strength),
but every country has coffee of some kind. The history of coffee is long and storied, and coffee is called by many names in many lands. The Arab traders of yesteryearalled it Gahwah. The Spice Islands' name for it was Java. Ancient Portugese explorers called it cafe. That word is often used to mean a gathering place in many countries now. It stands to reason -- coffee is most often a shared experience between friends.
Scientists believe that coffee was born in Ethiopia and was a food rather than a beverage in the beginning. Coffee was actually used as a replacement for wine. The drinking of wine was (and is) forbidden by Islamic law. Coffee was first used in religious ceremonies in place of wine and the plant was considered so valuable that removing even one was punishable by death. (I've been dying for a cup of coffee before, but that seems a little extreme. :)
Turks pulverized coffee beans and mixed them with water and spices like cinnamon, cloves and cardamon back in the thirteenth century to make what we called Turkish coffee. It is believed that Venetian traders may have smuggled coffee plants out of the East and into Italy.
Over the centuries we have learned a lot about coffee, especially how important it is to store it in airtight containers. Air is the biggest thief of coffee flavor, whether the beans are whole or ground. Coffee should always be stored in an airtight container in a cool dark place but never in a refrigerator. Correct storage is one of the major secrets of producing a great cup of coffee with every brewing.
Enjoy your cup of coffee and check this site for great buys:>>> http://homeincomeportal.com/tiatan787/shop.htm

The Health Benefits of Coffee
This is going to come as a shock to a lot of people, but coffee is just loaded with health benefits. It is true ! Because coffee tastes so good and provides so much pleasure to coffee lovers, it stands to reason that it would have to be unhealthy -- like French fries or T-bone steak or a good cigar, right ? Nope! Wrong! Coffee is actually good for you and it is just full of health benefits.
First, coffee has long been known to improve mental alertness and relieve the boredom of repetitious tasks, but that is not even a scratch on the surface of the health benefits that coffee provides. Coffee has been proven to delay the onset of Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Those who are regular coffee drinkers are diagnosed far less often and later in life for both. There are good scientific studies that back up this claim.
Coffee is also loaded with antioxidants. There are scientific studies to back this claim as well. Regular coffee consumption has been proven to prevent type-2 diabetes in older people. It has also been proven to prevent colorectal cancer. There is also research that suggest that coffee is helpful in fighting Parkinson's disease, cirrhosis, gall stones, and depression.
Coffee drinking can be a wonderful aid in helping reduce body weight. Yes, coffee is a natural appetite suppressant and it provides stimulant that helps people exercise more. Coffee is also a natural pain reducer, so it helps to relieve physical pain caused by exercise.
Coffee actually has so many health benefits that maybe it should be called "health elixir." We can drink our coffee and know that we are not only not doing any harm to our bodies but actually providing health benefits for it.

Start Your Day with Coffee
Most people know that a cup of coffee will wake them up and make them more alert first thing in the morning. It's a little shocking , but there really are non-coffee drinkers alive and well in this world. I even know a couple of them personally.
These non-coffee drinkers are most certainly in the minority, however, and even they have a way of getting a morning shot of caffeine. They will either drink a cup of tea, a soft drink, or a glass of chocolate milk -- all of which contain caffeine, the active ingredient in coffee.
The caffeine in coffee is a stimulant. It is a natural stimulant withou many, if any, side effects. Drinking a lot of coffee can make a person nervous, but even a lot of coffee will not raise blood pressure or increase the heart rate for more than a few minutes. The stimulating effect of coffee lasts a long time, though. A single cup of coffee will relieve boredom, make people perform tedious tasks better, and keep them more alert and well functioning for several hours.
Coffee is actually a health food. Really ! Those who drink coffee regularly are less likely to be diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or dementia. Coffee has been proven to stave off type-2 diabetes, even in people who are glucose intolerant. Coffee is recognized as a colorectal cancer preventive. Coffee is effective in reducing the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. There are studies in progress of the positive effects coffee drinkers can have on a whole host of human maladies, and coffee is loaded with antioxidants.
So start your day with a cup of coffee , and enjoy it. Coffee not only tastes good, it makes you feel better in the moment and it will help you live a full and healthy life. Coffee is health food!

The Origin of Coffee
Now, when your feet first touch the floor in the morning and you are groggily making your way to the coffee pot, you probably aren't thinking about where coffee came from or who discovered the magic stuff. But the origins of coffee are really rather interesting , and after you finished the first cup, you might like to know how it happened that you have a cup of coffee to get your day started off right. There are several versions of how coffee was discovered.
One story is that a sheep herder from Caffa Ethiopia named Kaldi noticed that when his sheep ate red "cherries" from a certain plant, they became very active. The sheep would be bouncing off the walls, had there been walls. The sheep herder decided to try the "cherries" himself and soon he was as hyper as his herd of sheep. A monk came along and scolded Kaldi for "partaking the devil's fruit," but then the monk discovered that the red "cherries" helped them to stay awake while they were saying prayers.
This isn't the only story about the origin of coffee, though. There is another story about an Arabian, Omar, who was banished to the desert along with his followers to " die from starvation." There was nothing to eat in the desert , and Omar and his followers were sure to die. Then, in an act of desparation, Omar ordered his followers to boil the fruit from an unknown plant and eat it. The fruit and the broth saved their lives and it was considered a miracle from God. The residents from the nearest town, Mocha, were awed by the miracle, and the plant and the beverage were named Mocha to honor the event.
Take your pick -- both stories are great. Originally the coffee plant grew in Ethiopia (Ethopia), but was it was transplanted to Arabia, it was claimed by them.

Automatic Coffee Maker Buying Tips
To-morrow is Fathers' Day and you may want to buy a coffee maker for your father or maybe for yourself; so I have here some tips on buying a good automatic coffee maker so that you can enjoy a nice cup coffee.
Ah, coffee! There really isn't a more pleasant smell in the universe than the smell of freshly brewed coffee especially first thing in the morning. Almost everybody loves good coffee but the definition of "good" coffee are as varied as the people who love it.
If you are considering buying a new automatic coffee maker and you haven't bought one in a while, you are going to find a lot more choices that you ever dreamed were possible.
The first thing that you need to decide about your new coffee maker is what kind of automatic coffee maker you want. Do you want an automatic drip coffee maker or a percolater ? (one drips water through coffee grounds, while the other forces heated water up a spout and over the coffee grounds.) Drip coffee and perked coffee are two entirely different tastes.
The next decision is what size automatic coffee maker will best serve your needs. If you are the only coffee drinker in the household, then you only need a very small coffee maker, one that makes a total of four cups will probably be adequate. However, if there are several people who drink coffee, or if you entertain regularly and serve coffee , you may need a larger coffee maker.
The next decision that you must make are the features of a coffee maker that are important to you. You can find coffee makers that have more controls than NASA, you will need to determine which features are important, and which are not of any value to you. Remember that each added feature adds to the cost.
The price of coffee makers range between $20 and $200. It is important to buy one that is large enough, but it is just as important that you don't buy one that is larger than you need.

Bridge Cameras Face an Unknown Future

Bridge Cameras
High-end live preview digital cameras are referred to as either bridge or prosumer digital cameras. While DSLR cameras operate on the same mechanical principles as the autofocus 35mm film single lens reflex camera, the key difference is that CCD or a CMOS image sensor takes the place of the film. This allows for the creation of images in-camera without the need to chemically develop an imge on actual film.
The major advantages over other digitals is the defining characteristics of an SLR ; the light goes directly from the main lens, instead of reflecting from an off-axis viewfinder.
The advantages of seeing an exact copy of an image has been duplicated in the LCD displays of the many digital compact cameras. However, the SLR retains the best quality of image due to its being in real time and more detailed.
LCD displays tend to have a time lag, causing the view to be clear, but not exactly what you are looking at. If something in the shot is moving , this movement will actually be viewed a second or two later.
While bridge cameras are comparable in weight and size to the smaller DSLR they lack the mirror and reflex system which are characteristics of DSLRs.
Referred to as "bridge cameras" because they hold a place between the digital consumer compacts and the DSLRs, prosumer identifies their high-end more advanced technology.
The lines between the two are not clear cut clear-cut -- the LPD category includes both the bridges and compact cameras. Mainly they both have live-preview on an electronic screen, which is their principle means of previewing an image before taking the photograph.
There are also several nonessential characteristics applying to many of the bridge cameras, but not all of them.
For instance, there is the single fixed noninterchangeable lens and a CCD sensor, which is much smaller in the bridge camera than in the DSLRs. A few of the new bridge cameras have defied these nonessential qualities and now have larger sensors of different types that are equal in size to those found in the DSLR cameras.
Bridge cameras still do not have interchangeable lenses; this may change in the not too distant future.

Change Brought About by Digital Photography
Two-megapixel cameras were offered for less than $100.00 in late 2002, with some one-megapixel cameras offered for under $60.00. Discount stores began offering development and processing of digital prints for their customers, offering actual chemical prints in an hour. This was in comparison with inkjet prints they could get from their computers. These prints were about the same price as film prints, even though the different aspect ratio in digital prints cropped some of the image. Some stores now offer prints with the exact same ratio as digital cameras record.
The single-use digital camera was introduced in 2003 at a cost of only $11.00. This camera followed the same simple process as the disposable film cameras.
The purchaser would return the camera to the store; receive prints and a CD-ROM of their pictures. The store then refurbishes the camera and it is sold again. This was the major difference between the one-use digital camera and the disposable film camera.
There are now several of these one-use digitals on the market, most of which are identical in function and specifications to the original one-use put out in 2003. However, a few now have superior specifications and are more technologially advanced. These on-use digitals are for the most part less than $20.00 in the stores; this of course does not include the cost of processing the film.
The high demand for digital cameras has increased the number of customer complaints as manufacturers cut corners to maintain competitive prices, with some digital cameras having only a 90-day warranty necessary due to the short service life.
Due to the sharp drop in the price of 35mm cameras, many manufacturers have stopped producing them completely,
with one major company dropping out of the camera business altogether.

Batteries for Digital Cameras
The power need for digital cameras is very high. As they get smaller in size , the challenge has been to come up with a battery that would need those requirements and still be small enough to fit into the smaller digital camera.
No one would be happy with a camera that didn't have enough power to run it for a reasonable amount of time. There are two divisions of batteries for digital cameras, and these divisions are very broad:
* Off-the-shelf batteries
While a few cameras have AAA batteries, AA (or CR2 batteries) are the more common in use. These are lithium-based and are intended for only single use; they are also commonly seen in camcorders.
The alkaline battery, which is nonrechargeable, provides only enough power for a very short time in most digital cameras. Most photographers have moved to the AA nickel metal hydride batteries along with a charger; these provide the necessary power and can be easily recharged. Mid-range and low-end cameras may use off the shelf batteries, but only a few cameras (DSLR) accept them.
* Proprietary battery formats
These are the second type of battery. Specifically built to the manufacturer's specifications, they can be either OEM or after market replacement parts. Most of the proprietary batteries are lithium ion. The battery life begins to degrade after a certain number of charges, usually about 500 cycles; yet they are very powerful for their size. Because of this, both high-end professional cameras and consumer models at the low end have lithium ion batteries.
Digital photographers, both professionals and amateurs, will find many types of batteries available; all will be within the two categories mentioned above.
It is possible to find as many opinions about the type of battery to use as there are photographers using them. Only the consumer can actually make the decision about which they choose.

Can Film Cameras be Converted to Digital ?
One of the first questions asked by professional photographers at the development of digital cameras was, "can we convert our film cameras to digital ?" The resounding answer was "yes and no."
Most of the 35mm cameras cannot be converted to digital; the cost would be too high, especially since lenses must evolve as well as the cameras. The only means of means of allowing this would be to remove the back of the camera and replace it with it with a specially built digital back.
While many of the early professional digital cameras were developed from 35mm film cameras, conversion meant that rather than a digital back , the body was actually added onto a large, bulky digital unit. This was often larger than the part that was actually the camera !
These were not, however, after market conversions; they were actually built this way in a factory.
One development was the EFS-1. This was inserted into the camera in place of the film, giving the camera storage for 24 images and 1.3 megapixels resolution. These units were developed from about 1998 to 2001, when the company began developing a true digital back.
Included in the category of professional modular digital camera systems are some of the highest end equipment, costing up to $ 40,000.00. These cameras can be assembled from components and are seldom found in the hands of the normal consumer.
Developed for medium to large format film, they capture greater detail and therefore the prints can be enlarged more than your standard 35 mm film. These cameras are normally found in studios and are used for commercial production; they are very large and seldom used for action or nature type photography.
The terms "digital back "or "film back" came from the ability to change the backs of these professioal cameras to either digital or film use.

Additional Storage for Your Digital Camera
When planning the budget for your new digital camera, include the cost of an extra memory card. The cards that come with your camera aren't nearly enough memory to take the number of pictures you would like to take, so get a bigger card right off the bat.
A 3-megapixel camera should have at least a 256 MB card; a 4-megapixel camera needs at a minimum a 512 MB card. Any camera with 6 or more megapixels should have a 1 GB card. This will eliminate the possiblity of ever missing a shot because your memory card is full, or even worse, having to choose which photo to delete because you have found one more that you just have to take!
Being able to shoot at your camera's highest resolution is another important reason to have a massive memory card. Spending money on a 6-megapixel digicam should also include shooting with all 6 megapixels !
Another thing to remember is to shoot at the camera's highest compression setting, too. Squeezing more images onto your memory card by shooting at your lower resolution and
and with lower quality compression settings will only cause regret later. You never know when you will shoot the next great photo. (Do you think the photographer left home that morning knowing he would photograph the nurse kssing the soldier? That photo turned out to be the most well recognized photo taken at the end of the war!)
Don't chance missing a great shot with poor quality.
Another thing to remember is that the lower the resolution of your photos, the smaller the print will have to be to remain clear. No posters can be made with a 640 x 480 resolution. Not exactly what you will want to display at your first gallery showing!

Choosing the Best Digital Camera
To-day's digital cameras have gone way beyond just point and shoot. They come with dozens of features, meaning you can customize your camera to your specific needs.
Some of the things you will want to look into when purchasing your camera are confusing, so make sure you know what you are looking for when you go shopping.
The quality of the resolution of your photos is determined by the megapixels (mps) of your camera. Tiny dots called pixels make up your digital photo; a megapixel means 1,000 pixels, or 1,000 dots. The higher the number of pixels your camera has, the better the resolution of your photos. If you want to crop your pictures or plan on printing larger prints, you need to be sure you purchase a camera that can meet those needs.
Optical or digital zooms are available on digital cameras. Optical zoom is like the one on a traditional camera and works the same way -- it goes out bringing you closer, or in, to take you further away fromthe subject. A digital zoom takes the picture as it is and enlarges it; this can lose image quality because it simply enlarges the pixels (dots) of the picture. Pictures may seem blurry or out of focus. Preserving the image quality can be as simple as turning off the digital zoom feature of your camera. Later, during editing, you can zoom in on a specific part of the photo with much better results.
A manual focus can be a great deal of fun, allowing you to focus in and make different parts of the photo stand out. This allows for a lot of creativity in your work. An most cameras still have an autofocus, so you can go back to the basics if you aren't feeling extremely creative. Think about the features that are important to you
and look for those features.
One important thing to remember is that you will be carrying it around, so consider the size when you purchase your camera.

Buying a Digital Camera
The price of digital cameras has been lowered dramatically as the popularity increases. You can now purchase a digital camera for anywhere from $30 to $400. As always, remember that you can get what you pay for, and don't expect to get top quality photos from a cheap camera; you may end up disappointed !
There are many types of digital cameras on the market, and it will help if you know what they are when you start to shop. Some of the newest models are Digital SLR, Electronic View Finders, and Range Finders.
Digital SLRs are very much like film -loaded cameras. A series of mirrors and prisms control the optical path
to produce a digital image on the LCD screen. You actually see what you are photographing when you look through the lens.
Electronic View Finders and Range Finders work much like a video camera, and optical view finder controls the picture instead of a lens. You don't look through a lens to take a picture; you are looking at a digital image.
Many of these cameras have the technology to allow video footage; therefore it is enabled by the manufacturer. You can shoot up to three minutes of video footage depending on the quality of the camera you are using. You new camera should have at least 2 megapixels resolution; anything up to 8 MP will provide great shots. 1.9 - 2.5 MP seems to be standard on to-day's market, but you can get more than 8 MP in some cameras on the professional market. Any less than 2 megapixels will frequently create poor- quality pictures that are fuzzy and blurred.
Ask to see samples of the pictures taken by that specific camera before you buy, and check the focus and zoom. The quality of the lens will make a big difference in your photos, so be sure it has a good lens. Another important item on your digital camera is a flash; without this, you will not be able to take pictures inside.
Understand all the features and controls before you purchase your new digital camera. It can be confusing to remember how it works when you get the camera home if you don't understand how each feature works.

Advantages of Going Digital
Many photographers are hearing the word "digital" nowadays. Digital photography is innovative and new, still in its infancy, and it is a wonderful photographic tool.
Tourists, among other photographic amateurs, love digital cameras. Family photos, graphic design, security, advertising, fashion and inventory control are only a few of the ways you can use digital photography.
If you are one of those who love to capture life at its best and worst, digital photography is the new wave. The family vacation is much easier to record, and you can take hundreds of photos to put in the family photo album!
The fundamentals of digital and film cameras are the same when taking a picture. The big difference is that with digital photography you get instant results, as you can view your picture on the LCD screen of the camera. With a conventional camera, you have to wait for film processing to get the pleasure of seeing what you have taken. With digital camera you can delete the pictures you don't like, while the film again requires you to wait, as well as spend time and money, on processing photos that you may not even want.
Electrical information is processed into digital information by the use of electronic chips in digital cameras. Millons of tiny receptors convert the energy into a digital image.
The color elements used are called pixels, and the standard pexil is the mega pixel (MP). Megapixels identifies the number of sensors needed to convert the information into a digital image. A camera with 8 megapixels of resolution is equal to about 8 million sensors.
The higher the number of pixels, the better resolution and better quality of the photo you will receive. Good quality 4 x 6 photos can be taken with a 1.9 - megapixel camera.

Advantages of Digital Photography to the Professional
The professional photographer and the amateur photographer can find many advantages to digital photography. These include but not limited to:
*Without wasting storage space, the professional photographer review, edit and even remove a photo, while assessing composition and lighting.
* The versatility of management , including color and file, manipulation, and printing abilities, creates a much faster workflow than film cameras.
* It is much easier to modify and manipulate digital images than it is to modify negatives and prints.
* Special effects that are available on a digital camera can give much more dramatic results than film cameras.
* With the clear images provided by new digital cameras, tripods are a thing of the past in most instances. This is due to the anti-shake tools now available.
* Hundreds of images can now be stored on your computer with a minimum of space allowing easy access for editing. It is much less expensive to store data on a computer than on rolls of film and negatives. In addition, the professional can take time to view them, saving only the best for use.
* Digital cameras are much more compact, allowing a freedom of movement when going on difficult shoots.
* Reviewing images and techniques are much easier as data can be stored directly on the photo, including: camera type, date and time, film speed, flash used, and shutter speed.
* Hundreds of photos can be taken without the need to constantly change film.
* Your home darkroom is now color, and editing you pictures is much less expensive. This eliminates the high cost of processing and the added problem of storing rolls of film and negatives. Manufacturers are now promoting the use of digital cameras to photojournalists by increasing the quality of cameras, by developing a quality of photograph that is comparable to 35mm models of the past.

Advantages of Digital Photography
The quality of the images on the new digital cameras, and the time limits that are so vitally important in the newspaper industry, have made digital photography the norm with the most professional news photographers.
Many amateur photographers have also adopted the digital camera as their camera of choice. They enjoy the convenience of sending photos by email, being able to put them on the web, and displaying them in digital picture frames. Many cell phones now have digital cameras included in them, even though the small lens size of these phones reduces the quality of the pictures, making them unsuitable for making prints.
The quality of the pictures taken on even the best digital cameras is not considered to be anywhere near the quality of regular film. Therefore, many commercial photographers and even some artistic amateurs resist using digital technology for their photography purposes. Film also has a much greater resolution than even the best of digital projectors. Other professionals have embraced with enthusiasm the digital cameras, believing that the long-term costs in flexibility outweigh the initial high costs.
Unlike film photography, which requires constant expenditure to update and maintain equipment, nearly all expense in digital photography is the initial cost of the equipment. However film equipment lasts longer and doesn't become obsolete as quickly as digital cameras.
Many professionals have changed to digital photography because of the advantages of editing on a computer. This includes the ability to balance the color and manipulate images in a way that are not possible with conventional film photography. A further disadvantage to digital photography is the need to have electrical outlets to charge batteries on digital cameras. Digital cameras are also more sensitive to climate, extreme cold, and moisture than standard cameras, which cause photographers who work in remote areas to prefer the more conventional film camera.
Some fear that the changing technology of computers will eventually make the digital photography taken today inaccessible in the future. Digital photography in the courts is also held to be very questionable because of the inability to prove the photograph's authenticity.
