Home Remedies - Gout

Gout is a painful disease that is caused by crystals of uric acid accumulating in the joints, tenons, or tissues. The deposits cause arthritis and inflammation. Attacks of gout can happen suddenly or come on slowly. Often there is pain in the big toe, other foot joints, hand joints, knee joints, or shoulder joints.
Gout isn't new. It's been around for a lot of centuries. More men than women suffer from gout. Gout is thought to be caused by slow kidney function, obesity, high blood pressure, and/or lack of exercise. Heredity can also be a factor in the cause of gout.
Since gout has been a human malady for so many years, you probably won't be surprised to learn that a great many home remedies have been used to treat it -- some, however, with more success than others. Alfalfa has been used for many centuries to treat gout. Modern scientists have discovered that there is a very sound scientific proof that the minerals and nutrients found in alfalfa are actually very beneficial to those who suffer with gout.
Apple cider vinegar has been used in multiple ways to treat gout for many years. Drinking an apple cider vinegar and raw honey mixture before each meal is said to help with gout.
A soak made of apple cider vinegar boiled with rose hips is also supposed to relieve gout. Using this mixture as a rub is also a home remedy that is said to be effective.
A rub made by boiling cayenne pepper in equal parts of water and vinegar is supposed to be effective for treating gout as well. Cherries, fresh, frozen, or canned, are a home remedy for treating gout. It is necessary to eat between 20 and 40 cherries for this to be effective, however.
